Carousel of Time
I spent between 3 and 4 hours painting this today. I spent about 2-3 weeks working on this, with the majority of it done within one week, and I am FINISHED! I am so happy!
This is my 8th Concentration piece, titled Carousel of Time. My family was getting really tired of the moodiness that was plaguing the rest of my works, so I found the Steampunkism contest on Deviantart and decided to try something different. This piece symbolizes that even as time goes on, I can still be a kid at heart and enjoy life. Thus, there is a more cheerful spirit in this piece, compared to the other pieces in my concentration so far. I don't think the next piece will be as light-hearted.
Here is the final work:

RISD Drawings Completed!
Happy Halloween! I finished my 3 RISD assignments!

#2: Utilize both sides of the paper
#3: Incorporate words into your work

RISD, if you reject me, I'm gonna somehow slap you. T_T
I'd also add in a Halloween-themed artwork, but due to my immense workload, I have been unable to squeeze in one so far this year. I'm working on one right now, but it probably won't be finished until sometime in November, if I finish it at all :(

Better Photo of "The Fool"
The last post had a sucky photo of the final drawing, so here's a better photo. It was really hard getting a good photo of it, since the drawing was double sided, and needed a good light source in order to photograph it well. Here, I taped it to a window, and my teacher aided me in photography.

RISD Drawing #2/AP Concentration #6: The Fool
This is my latest piece. I'm double-dipping for my RISD application and my AP Concentration, and here are the WIP's.
This took me a month to draw. I'm proud of it, but at the same time, I'm really sad. I have to fold it up and send it to RISD. Pretty much, I drew this picture only to subject to death by folding and the fingerings of RISD admission committees, who will wrinkle it up and make it ugly. And I don't know if I can get it back.
My beagle, Jack, is the model for the dog in the drawing.

Rant
I hate Deviantart, but I'm still on it. On that website, popularity validates one's quality of work. I'm not one of those people who uploads a piece of work that gets over 1000 faves and comments within one hour. There are people who can whip out a sketch, and it gets devoured immediately. As for me, I just do my best to churn out something personal, and if I'm lucky, I get fifty faves and twenty comments within a month. I don't understand why some people can just get so much attention on there. I'm completely baffled, and I keep on trying to tell myself it's not a big deal, that popularity doesn't mean good work, but it doesn't work.
I get so frustrated when I draw. I sometimes feel like there's no point in drawing, but I keep on going anyway, because I feel like all the energy I've put into drawing and art for the past five years of my life would just go to waste. But why should I keep on drawing if all I get are just blank looks, and people who say nothing and walk away?
These are only a few pages from my new sketchbook. These pages stood out to me among the rest of the trash. T_T
